Monday morning meant the prospect of another hard trek. However, we were determined to leave on time. The trek was much steeper and much harder work. However, we only had to take one rucksack per tent group meaning that after half an hour of very hard work we would have an hour of rest. Am attracted a lot of caterpillars today and we had a nice break eating alphabet biscuits. We walked a lot more and when we asked 'when is lunch?' were told 'at the peak'. However, after seeing a signpost indicating that the peak was 1.5 hours away (without stops!) we gave up and ate lunch where we were.
After lunch we carried on to the peak. After a lot of VERY HARD work and stops every 10 mins WE MADE IT! WE HAD CLIMBED MOUNT BULJMA - 1410m high (higher than any mountain in Britain!). At the peak we carved our names into the stones, ate wafer biscuits and took pictures of the amazing scenery.
In high spirits we went back down. At first it was a scary, slippery start in which I almost fell over frequently (I had the heavy bag). After this however we continued at a very quick pace hardly stopping at all. Very near the mountain hut we came to a house where a man (Brandy man) lived. He offered the adults Brandy while we got to use his (proper) toilet and fed his donkey (Chooska).
When we arrived at the mountain hut we were cheering and were surprised to hear clapping - another World Challenge group had arrived from Yorkshire. The Yorkshires were very nice and we had fun spending time with them.
(You may have noticed I have realised my posts are too long and you are definetly getting bored at this point I am trying to shorten them :))
